Our Veterinarians
Muskogee native Dr. Matthew Walkup graduated from the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Following graduation, he joined Blackwell Animal Hospital in Blackwell, OK as an associate veterinarian. In 2007, he returned to Muskogee and started the Farm Call Vet large animal ambulatory practice serving Muskogee and surrounding counties. In 2015, he purchased Animal Medical Center and merged the two practices. Dr. Walkup continues to focus on food animal medicine and herd health with a particular interest in bovine medicine. In his free time he enjoys blacksmithing, off-roading, and spending time with his family.

Tim Synar, DVM
Dr. Tim Synar grew up in Muskogee County and joined Animal Medical Center in 1976 after graduating from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He became co-owner in 1977. Dr. Synar’s focus was initially on dairy medicine, as he worked with the 39 dairies in the practice’s 60 mile service area. In the 1980s, as the dairy industry declined in the Muskogee area, Dr. Synar gradually transitioned to small animal medicine. He began practicing small animal medicine almost exclusively in the early 2000s. Dr. Synar resumed the title of associate veterinarian in 2015 when the practice was sold to Dr. Walkup. He continues to focus on small animal medicine with a special interest in surgery.
Stephani Barnett, DVM
Dr. Stefani Barnett joined Animal Medical Center in 2016. Originally from Pennsylvania, she moved to Oklahoma in 2009 and graduated from Oklahoma State University’s Veterinary program in 2015. After graduation, Dr. Barnett completed an internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK where she further developed her equine medicine and surgical skills. Here at AMC her focus is on equine and small animal veterinary medicine. Dr. Barnett has a special interest in performance horses and helping these equine athletes perform their jobs better. In her free time, Dr. Barnett enjoys competing on her horses in the event of barrel racing. She resides in Muskogee with her husband Tony, their three horses, three dogs and two cats.
Gloyd Miller, DVM
Dr. Gloyd Miller grew up in Webbers Falls, OK, and entered Connors State College at age 16. After graduating from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1964, he opened a mobile practice in Warner, OK. He designed and built the current clinic at 2300 W. Peak Boulevard, and opened Animal Medical Center in 1974. He focused on large and exotic animals with a special interest in horses. Dr. Miller retired in 2015 but continues to see a few select patients and clients. In his retirement, Dr. Miller is enjoying fishing, hunting, photography and traveling with his wife Dessa.
