Equine Preventive Care

Vaccination and parasite prevention are very important to the health of your horses. Vaccinations, deworming, wellness exams and other preventive care are provided both in the clinic and at your home or farm as part of our 24-hour ambulatory care service.

Equine Vaccine Schedule 

We can help you determine what the best vaccine schedule is for your horses based on of their individual risk.

Current general recommendations are as follows.

ADULT HORSE Vaccine Recommendations

  • EEE/WEE/Tetanus/Flu/Rhino twice per year

  • West Nile once per year, before the start of the vector season

  • Rabies once per year

  • Coggins once per year

PREGNANT MARE Vaccine Recommendations

  • Pregnant mares should receive Pneumabort at 5, 7 and 9 months gestation and EEE/WEE/Tetanus/Flu/Rhino 30 days prior to foaling.

 

FOAL Vaccine Recommendations

  • EEE/WEE/Tetanus/Flu/Rhino/West Nile should begin at 4-6 months of age and followed by a booster in 4 weeks.

  • Rabies vaccine should be given at 6 months of age and yearly thereafter.
